The Vietnamese government released Pastor Nguyen Cong Chinh from prison on July 28, and allowed him, his wife Tran Thi Hong and their five children to leave the country. Pastor Chinh had been serving an 11-year sentence for ‘undermining national unity’ under Article 87 of the Penal Code. During his time in prison he endured solitary confinement and torture. The family has arrived in the United States after the U.S. government granted Pastor Chinh humanitarian parole.
